William “Ross” Van Tuyl joined Bruno Gerbino & Soriano (BG&S), LLP in January 2018 as an associate.

Mr. Van Tuyl brings several years of experience as a legal researcher and insurance litigator with emphasis on document review, coding and quality control.

Prior to this role, Mr. Van Tuyl was a document review attorney for the Garden City Group LLP where his main responsibility was reviewing claim submissions for BP Oil spill claimants, and Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP for which he reviewed and coded documents related to copyright law.

His previous experience also includes acting as a staff attorney for Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP. In this role, he reviewed, analyzed and coded documents to locate relevant materials for potential litigation, using Merrill Lextranet and Zerox OmniX systems; analyzed documents coded by other attorneys to ensure quality control; answered substantive legal questions regarding responsiveness and privilege coding of documents; and created and organized materials for offensive and defensive depositions. Mr. Van Tuyl also worked on numerous residential mortgage-backed securities litigations for multiple clients.

Mr. Van Tuyl was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2013 after receiving a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2011. During law school, he served as the mentorship board chair for the Virginia Bar Association and successfully competed in both the ADR Mediation and the Barnett Moot Court Competitions. He also interned for the Office of the Public Defender, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court in Richmond during the summer of 2010. In this role, he interviewed and advised juvenile and adult clients and researched and drafted memoranda, motions and pleadings. This work involved representing clients in bench trials, sentencing hearings, plea bargains and juvenile detention hearings.

In 2008 he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from Hampden-Sydney College in 2008. As an undergraduate student, he competed on the Varsity Tennis team. Mr. Van Tuyl also studied international finance and trade at the Bordeaux School of Business in Paris during the summer of 2007.
