Ms. Coronel, formerly field counsel for Liberty Mutual, brings more than two decades of experience as a litigator, focusing on insurance defense, both commercial and personal, as well as claim adjustment, automobile negligence, advanced digital discovery, arbitrations, mediations and jury trials.
Ms. Coronel previously worked for MAPFRE Insurance, GEICO and the law firm of Garrity, Graham, Murphy, Garofalo & Flinn. From 2010-2013, she ran her own firm, Marie S. Coronel, Esq. LLC, where she handled all aspects of discovery, extensive motion practice, drafting briefs and legal research and jury trials regarding BI/UM/UIM coverage.
The first-generation American, who is also fluent in French and Haitian Creole, received a Juris Doctor degree in 1997 from Touro College: Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Mercy College in 1994. While studying for her law degree, Ms. Coronel interned for the Hon. Michael L. Orenstein, Magistrate, EDNY.
Ms. Coronel was admitted to both the New Jersey State and U.S. District Court Bars in 1999.
Also a committed member of her community, Ms. Coronel has provided pro bono representation to indigent women in domestic violence cases in support of the Montclair-based organization Partners for Women and Justice since 2007.
