Prior to joining BG&S, she was a principal at H.P. Donovan Law Firm from 2015-2017, a senior associate at Marin Goodman, LLP, from 2002-2015 and an associate attorney at DeBellis & Whiten from 2000-2002.
During her career, she has also successfully defended officers and directors of housing cooperatives and other housing corporations in numerous professional liability and breach of contract cases throughout New York State and before the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
Ms. Donovan also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Martin Schoenfeld, a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court and a law intern at the New York City Department of Transportation, and at The New York City Administration for Children Services.
Prior to embarking on her law career, Ms. Donovan was the assistant director of commercial revitalization at a local economic development group where she devised and implemented public-private initiatives to foster targeted and sustainable economic development and commercial revitalization ventures in various New York City neighborhoods.
Ms. Donovan, who began college at 16 as a Trustees Scholar, received a Juris Doctor degree in 1999 from New York Law School and both a master’s degree in Urban Planning/Policy Analysis & Economic Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Comparative Politics & Philosophy from New York University.
Ms. Donovan is fluent in French, Haitian Creole, and has a working knowledge of Spanish. A voracious reader and community advocate, she is also a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council – Geneva, Switzerland and the Council of Appellate Lawyers Rules Committee.
