January 1, 2017 – Bruno, Gerbino & Soriano (BG&S) LLP is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2017, Brian Kaufman and Nathan Shapiro have been named partner, Caitriona McCarthy and Michael Weaver are now senior associates and Paulette Brown has been hired as an associate.

They have worked hard for these promotions,” said Vince Gerbino, a founding partner. “We’re paving the way for more growth in the years to come, and Paulette will also be part of that change. These changes exemplify the determination, perseverance and collaborative spirit that has been entrenched in what we have done for two decades,” he added.

Mr. Kaufman, formerly a senior associate, focuses his practice on the defense of general liability claims, premises liability claims, commercial litigation claims, suspect/fraudulent insurance claims, product liability claims, insurance coverage disputes and appellate practice. He also specializes in drafting complaints and litigating actions against fraudulently incorporated no-fault medical clinics. He received a Juris Doctor degree in 2008 from Suffolk University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The George Washington University in 2005.

Mr. Shapiro, also formerly a senior associate, received a Juris Doctor degree in 2011 from Hofstra University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science in 2008 from Stony Brook University.

Ms. McCarthy, formerly an associate, was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2012 after receiving a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Hofstra University in 2008.

Mr. Weaver, also formerly an associate, has a Juris Doctor degree from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, an MBA from Columbia University School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Ms. Brown was previously an associate for McCormack & Mattei, P.C., Garden City, NY. She received a Juris Doctor degree from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2011 and a Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University in 2008.
